I'd like to add one thing that's missing here: grease. When I started my army duty back in 2000, our platoon received firearms from an old box filled with a certain type of grease, and the guns were dipped in this grease. I don't remember how old they were, but I do recall that they were older than our parents, probably from around 1950. Surprisingly, these guns looked new when we cleaned them.

So, my conclusion, without testing, is to obtain a non-corrosive grease, find an airtight container, fill it with grease, and dip the metal with seed into it. Seal the container, bury it, and on top of it, plant a tree. 🌳
